Against New Coronavirus

How to Protect Yourself and Your Family against the New Coronavirus

Since the very beginning of the Coronavirus outbreak late in December 2019, the question about confirmed cases in Indonesia, or Bali, in particular, has been a significant concern. Concerns about Coronavirus outbreak quickly spreading among tourists who are planning to visit Bali or those who were already on the island as the crisis started.

This mass panic is getting worse, especially when Indonesia officially announced the first two cases of Coronavirus on March 2, 2020.

Several international studies and expert’s opinions pointed out that it was highly unlikely that Indonesia was free of the virus. Even though infected patients were then not (yet) detected. Though seen as skeptical at the time, those theories have now been proven right; Indonesia is indeed not COVID-19-free.

So far, there have been no reports of confirmed cases in Bali, but that doesn’t necessarily mean that the island is COVID-19-free either. While you should not panic, we would highly recommend you to implement the following necessary protective measures against this virus, as advised by the World Health Organization:

How to get protection from Coronavirus

Prevent Coronavirus

Wash your hands frequently and make sure that your little ones do the same too!

One of the most effective ways to protect yourself from this virus would be by washing your hands regularly with clean running water and soap for at least 20 seconds. Make sure that your kids do the same too. It is also handy to always carry a small bottle of alcohol-based hand sanitizer.

Maintain your distance among people in public places!

The common signs of coronavirus infection include respiratory symptoms, fever, cough, shortness of breath, and breathing difficulties. Pay attention to your surroundings and make sure that you maintain a distance of at least 1 meter from any person who is coughing or sneezing. While the symptoms displayed maybe just of a regular case of the flu, there is no harm in being cautious.

Avoid touching your eyes, nose, and mouth, and activate your super-parent mode!

Even though you think you washed your hands properly, you need to avoid touching your eyes, nose, and mouth. This treatment is applied to minimize the chance of the virus entering your body.

You also have to know that children, moreover babies and toddlers, do tend to put hands in their mouths. It would help if you stay alert of what they touch, lick, and (once again) put in their mouth.

Practice respiratory hygiene!

Cover your mouth and nose with a tissue when you cough or sneeze, and make sure you dispose of the used tissue right away. This treatment is a great way to protect the people around you from viruses, including the Coronavirus.

Last but not least, you have to keep yourself updated with the most recent developments related to this issue. Stay alert, but don’t panic. In case you are new to your area or currently on vacation, make sure to get a list of walk-in clinics in your neighborhood, just in case you ever need one.
